elementary recordings owns nothing.. the artists own everything.

This is a working class ideal first uttered in about 1978 by the founders of Factory; since then everything has become messed up, utterly.
In 1976 what started out as a revolution in the British music scene turned into another money spinner for the bankers in suits; no longer was it about music, it was about money... ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

elementary recordings is not a revolution, we just make music we all like. It is not a scene or a movement, we are just passionate people and we want to share our music with other people (everyone is welcome here).
Due to the monster that is the internet, it is easier than ever to distribute our music across the planet, so we have now made it available for download (when we used to make cassettes, then CD's and send them in envelopes, we can now send ones and zeros down a wire). If you check the artist roster you will find links to places where you can listen.
Now download it. The money you are spending will go to the artist so they can live and continue to make music. Your money does not pay anyone else, not even me.
Now that you have the music in your hands, play it to your friends and keep it moving. Pass it on. The plan is the more music we make and share at ground level, the less we will need to listen to the shit that is piped into our homes.
Turn off the radio; turn off the TV; destroy all magazines... keep your ear to the ground and listen... make up your own mind... don’t listen to the men in suits because they do not care about anything except the money in your pocket. If you don’t give your money freely, they will wither and die because they have nothing to contribute to our lives. They are poison.
Now I repeat, this music is yours to share, and share it you must otherwise its journey will be a short one.
Remember elementary recordings owns nothing; you are not contributing to the profits of a corporation. elementary recordings is the artists, and they are the people you stand next to at the supermarket. The music belongs to them and they are sharing it: use it wisely.

Also please note:
The artists who are signed to elementary recordings have a few things in common:
They make music because they have to.
They make music, not money.
They are here to stand together with other likeminded souls, not because of generous advances or big budgets.
They would make music anyway.
None of the artists are signed to elementary recordings in the conventional sense; they have a contract which states: they own everything and the label owns nothing, that they can walk away at anytime and their music will go with them. The artists remain with elementary recordings because they want to.
elementary recordings makes no money out of the artists. The profits from sales go straight back to the artist.
If we can do it, so can you. If you don't like what you see and hear here. Go and make your own.

*music to your tastebuds
'Music to your tastebuds' is an elementary phrase, first picked up in Wednesbury (it was a cafe with a pig playing an instrument as its logo). You will know that this sentence makes no sense, but if you've been to Wednesbury, you will appreciate that it does not matter it makes no sense.
I like the fact it makes no sense; and that is why I have stuck it here (out of the way). elementary makes no business sense, but business isn't our business; music is. We are happy to not make sense as well.
